Destination Wedding and Honeymoon Planning
By: Leslie Richards
Dolphin Vacations
You are getting married. When you start to plan your wedding a lot of possibilities will arise. One might be where you will get married. Perhaps you dream is standing on a beach as the sun sets and waves are the background music to your vows. Maybe you would like to invite your family and friends to an exotic destination to share your special day with you.
Destination weddings can be as elaborate, or as simple as you like. Destination weddings can be designed to fit each couple's personality and wishes. Resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean advertise how easy it is to plan a wedding away from home. Many resorts offer a variety of wedding packages for couples to choose from a coordinator to help with all of the details. Many even offer complimentary weddings when you book a certain category of room, or number of rooms for your guests. If you don't find a wedding package you like at a resort, it is not difficult to find local wedding coordinators to assist with your every wish.
Mexico and the Caribbean are not the only popular destinations for weddings. You might want to look at Walt Disney World, Las Vegas, or Hawaii, to name a few. If you looking abroad, you could get married in a castle in Europe, a hacienda in Mexico or a small intimate church in the destination of your choice. The one thing that all wedding destinations have in common is that varied and detailed criteria will need to be met to get married legally away from home. Some of these conditions may include residency requirements, blood tests, and specific documentation and translations. For instance, did you know that your wedding has to be publically 'posted' in a town in England for a set period of time prior to the actual event there? None of these issues should be of great concern if you work with someone who knows exactly what will be needed.
It may seem as simple as choosing a destination and booking a room, but you will find there can be so much more. Do you know if the beach is private, or if the public will be able to join in your event? Is that season is good for a beach wedding, or might there be too much wind? What do you do if you plan your wedding and a major storm approaches your resort? Will you need activities for children who might be attending? These questions can also apply in some cases to your honeymoon. That is why you travel experts can be crucial for planning either trip.
Experts in planning destination weddings and honeymoons can offer resorts that cater to brides and grooms, and may even be able to negotiate room upgrades, romantic private meals on the beach, massage packages, and even pre-plan fun bachelor or bachelorette parties. There are even companies that offer upgraded airfare for brides and grooms, and private transfers between the airport and resort for group members.
A great option that many brides and grooms are choosing for their destination weddings is leaving the travel details for friends and family in the hands of their travel agent. This way all they have to do is set the time, date and place for the wedding and send out invitations with your travel agent's contact information. The travel agent then works with your guests to make sure they also get a great trip that meets their specific needs, budgets and busy schedules. With many travel companies, your agent can also help you set up a gift registry for guests that would like to help you finance your wedding and honeymoon.
Just like destination weddings, honeymoons can be as unique as each bride and groom. You might want a small cabin out of the way in Canada, a tour through Romantic Europe, an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean, or even just a single night away from home. Speaking with a honeymoon expert can be beneficial when planning your special trip. They may be able to help you find ways to take a trip you never thought possible Finding what is possible is easier when you talk to someone who does that professionally. There might even be things you haven't considered that could be offered to you to make this memorable trip even more amazing.
